Hosea James Givan II, Chair
Hosea Givan is Chair of the Board of Directors and Founder of I Love Our Youth. He was born in Chicago, IL, raised in Hollis, Queens and now resides in The Bronx, NY. He holds a BA in Public Administration from Drake University, MS in Education from Long Island University and a Masters in Urban Ministry from Alliance Theological Seminary. While pursuing his first Masters degree, Hosea worked as the Youth Coordinator for the Hicksville Youth Council. In 1986-87 he taught learning disabled and emotionally challenged children and became a NYS certified guidance counselor in 1988. In 1990, he took a two year leave of absence from education to serve as the Executive Director of the NYS Black and Puerto Rican Legislative Caucus in Albany, NY. He served in a voluntary capacity as the Executive Director of the Yes to Success Sports Foundation in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Givan also held the position of Outreach Officer with the Chase Manhattan Bank Community Development division. In 1993, he founded I Love Our Youth, Inc. In 1994, Mr. Givan was the architect and first Commissioner of the Nike Swoosh All Metro Basketball Tournament that serviced over 1,500 young people in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx. In August 2006, Givan was a Red Cross Volunteer training other volunteers at the Houston Astrodome Hurricane Katrina Relief Station. Currently, he is a Dean/Guidance Counselor at the Urban Scholars Community School in the Bronx, NY. His most recent project has been the creation of The National Give Back for Kids Campaign, Inc. He is a life-member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Hosea is married to the former, Rachel Cheeks and they have a daughter, Rebekah.

Sam Hercules, Treasurer
Samuel Hercules is currently a bank Vice President in NYC. He received his BS in Accounting from Long Island University, a Masters of Law in Taxation Degree from Villanova University, a Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School and has studied at Cornell University. Mr. Hercules is a member of the New York State Bar Association and has served as treasurer for the National Black Law Students Association. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Hercules is married and has two children.

Milton S. Carter
Milton S. Carter was born and raised in Queens N.Y. were he attended Martin Van Buren H.S. He was coached there by New York City Hall of Fame, Coach Marv Kessler. Coach Kesseler taught Carter the art of "Man to Man" defense. Mr. Carter affectionately called Coach Carter is a devote Christian and is married to Sheila Carter. They have 6 children and all of them have participated in the I Love Our Youth, Inc. program where Coach is "Co-founder." Coach Carter is a retired electrician with a 30 year career. He has coached the young athlete for 25 years and has experienced success at every level. Coach is a Station Master at the world renowned Five Star Basketball Camp where he has had opportunity to teach some of the top talent that has come out of the U.S.A. and the world. Coach Carter has coached on the High School level at Nazereth Regional High School in the Catholic league in Brooklyn , Kellenberg High School in Uniondale Long Island, Bay Shore High School in Bay Shore Long Island. Coach Carter has coached on the college level at Medgar Evers College in the C.U.N.Y. League, Briarcliffe College in Bethpage, Long Island. Coach Carter has been selected by his peers as "COACH OF THE YEAR" 3 times. He is in 3 documentaries "BOTH SIDES OF THE GAME - The Ron Jonhson Story," "Give and Go Basketball - IS 8 Edition" and "MARV, The Soul OF Five Star Basketball." Coach Carter has a wealth of knowledge about Life and Basketball. Coach Carter now lives in North Carolina, where he recently accepted a coaching position at Evelyn Mack Academy (Prep School).

Rachel C. Cheeks - Givan
Rachel Cheeks-Givan is currently the Sr. Manager of Global Diversity and Inclusion for PepsiCo. Her focus is on driving the diversity initiatives for the corporation in support of PepsiCo’s vision of becoming Employer, Partner and Brand of Choice worldwide. She leads PepsiCo’s Employee Network Strategy and the Women of Color Multicultural Alliance across PepsiCo. She is an active member of PepsiCo’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Governance Council and Corporate’s Inlcusion Council. In addition, she also serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Food and Beverage Taskforce, the Hidden Brain Drain Taskforce, the Board for Working Mother Media and ASCENT, and the Network for Executive Women’s subcommittee for Multicultural Women. With 16 years at PepsiCo, Rachel worked at Frito-Lay in the Controller’s function for several years. She managed the National Commissions Team and created Controllers University. Before that, her responsibilities included domestic and international audit at PepsiCo. Prior to PepsiCo, she worked for Richard A. Eisner a mid-sized Accounting Firm in New York City. Rachel holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College. She is a Certified Public Accountant. Rachel was featured in the April 2008 issue of Essence Magazine for her contributions in the area of Diversity and Inclusion. Rachel resides in New York where she pursues community involvement and mentors young adults in her neighborhood. She also volunteers and serves on the Board on the Directors for I Love Our Youth, Inc. and the National Give Back for Kids Campaign, Inc.; non-profit community based organizations.

Rhonda Hargrove
Rhonda Hargrove, Executive Director, New Business Development Time Inc. Content Solutions (TICS). Rhonda is responsible for developing and overseeing business and operational plans during the development and launch period of new custom publishing projects. Rhonda is the primary liaison interfacing with Fortune 500 clients to support their branding efforts and marketing and sales initiatives. Her project management skills enable her to manage/direct multi-disciplined staffs (i.e. supervise the editorial and production "processes" related to the creation of the customized magazine). Rhonda is a 17-year veteran of Time Warner. Prior to joining TICS, she worked as a Marketing Manager for Time Distribution Services now known as Time Warner Retail where she developed and executed newsstand strategies and marketing plans for Time Magazine in the U.S. and Canada. Two years later she served as Promotions Director, responsible for creating and implementing customized retail newsstand promotion and value-added merchandising programs for over 25 Time Inc. consumer magazines. Prior to joining TICS, she worked as a Marketing Development Manager in Media Sales & Marketing. Rhonda is a graduate of Syracuse University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and holds an MBA in Marketing Management from St. John's University.

Gerald M. Givan, D.V.M.
Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine Class of '88. Small animal practitioner for over 20 years at Yonkers Animal Hospital. Presently doing some Emergency Hospital work at Orange County Animal Emergency Service in Middletown, New York Married for to Londe S. Givan; they have 3 Children: Marcus, Alexandra Nichole and Nia. Member of the Trustee Board at Union Baptist Church, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Since Fall 1980) and is a Prince Hall Mason. Avid golfer-14 handicap.
